“To Serve and Protect”

Our Police Officers and Acting Chief have been working incredibly hard to continue providing around the clock protection and service to our community. However, it is unsustainable to continue asking these dedicated public servants to continue working the incredible number of hours each week that they have been doing. To help ensure 24/7/365 coverage, we have reached out to other agencies to see if help were available; yet being short staffed is hardly limited to Shelburne. We are grateful to have reached agreement with Vermont State Police to provide on call coverage for the night shift. Our Dispatchers/911 Call Takers will continue to answer the phones as always.

Vermont State Police will respond to emergencies between 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.; non-emergency calls will be handled by Shelburne Police Department in the morning. The goals of this approach are to get us through this challenging period and continue providing 24/7/365 service and protection, while reducing stresses upon our Police Officers with far fewer overtime hours required of them.

We hope you find this information helpful. Please feel free to reach out to Acting Chief Mike Thomas with any questions at 802-985-8051. Thank you.
