Bolton Valley Ski & Ride Program

Ski Program  2021
We are pleased to be able to offer an After School Ski and Ride Program at Bolton Valley Resort this winter. However, due to the pandemic, there are major changes to the program format and operations at Bolton. The biggest change is that we are not able to offer transportation. Parents will be responsible for providing transportation to and from Bolton, as well as supervision at the mountain. The program thus has become more of a family ski program. Another big change is that the program will take place on Wednesday evenings, instead of the previous Friday schedule.

Changes at Bolton include a time limit of 30 minutes in the base lodge for food/ warm up / restroom use. We will not be able to have a chaperone in the lodge for kids to go to for help. Also, personal items including bags and gear, are not allowed to be left in the base lodge. Participants must leave all personal items in their car and only take with them the necessary gear for skiing or riding. The only exception will be for participants who are renting gear, in which case they will be able to leave their boots near the rental shop.

Lesson Information: Ski and Snowboard Ability Levels
LEVEL I: Never ever skiers/snow boarders or you cannot stand or slide on equipment. Lesson Goal is to get balanced on equipment, climb, stop slow down, navigate on equipment in the flats and possibly getting to link 1-2 to more turns on the Mighty Mite Lift only.
LEVEL II: Participants from a level I, 2nd lesson or anyone who thinks they do not want to ride the lift but does not want to start from the beginning with no equipment on. Comfortable on the Mighty Mite area and lift. Lesson Goal is to link turns consecutively, able to do different turn shapes (short, medium) on our Mighty Mite hill, stop, approach handle tow and prepare for lift riding.
**Level III and up must be able to ride a lift alone!

Participants can navigate green circle terrain, wanting a refresher on turning. They have skied/snowboarded before and are ready to learn to ride the lift or have done so in the past. Lesson Goal is to link turns on the green circle terrain with control and creating the turn shape needed for the pitch you are on.
LEVEL IV-V Intermediate: Riding the lifts and skiing/snowbarding on the blue/black terrain, learning to shape turns and explore terrain and the terrain park.
We know that it's a disappointment not to have bus transportation and chaperones for kids to be able to participate in this program independently. We look forward to bringing back normal protocol next year if the restrictions have lifted and we are no longer in a pandemic environment. As with so many other things, this program will not look or feel the same this year. We know many won't be able to participate simply due to transportation and we sympathize. However, we wanted to offer what we are able to under current circumstances. Thank you for understanding!
