Women's Empowerment Self Defense Workshops
Join The Safety Team for a self-defense program for women and taught by women! The Safety Team is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the well-being, empowerment and safety of women.
info@thesafetyteam.org. Pre-Registration is required. Space is limited. Offered to women and girls ages 12 and up. Girls 12-14 must be accompanied by mother or legal female guardian, women 14-18 need a signed permission slip by parent or legal guardian. 
*All participants must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination and wear a mask during this class. This is required by the instructors due to close contact during the workshop.

Level I Workshop: Introductory
This beginner workshop focuses on recognizing pre-assault behavior, learning ways to deter or avoid an attack before it becomes physical, understanding how predators think and what they look for in their victims, enhancing decision-making around lifestyle choices that minimize vulnerability yet maintain personal freedoms, and finding the inner-strength to fight back. Maximum 15 participants.

Level II Workshop: Intermediate
This workshop takes Level 1 another step further, allowing for a brief review, practice of acquired strikes, and instruction of additional basic self-defense techniques that deal with a variety of situations and potential attacks. The focus is on “hands-on” self-defense skills, techniques and strategies. Level I is a prerequisite for Level 2 workshop. Maximum of 15.

Essentrics
As seen on PBS, Essentrics™ is a full body workout that will rebalance the muscles in your body through a dynamic and fluid combination of strengthening and stretching. By developing strong, lean muscles, the technique helps improve your posture and overall mobility. Perfect for men, and women of all fitness levels. The music is great too. A mat and water bottle are all you need to participate.

Gentle Yoga
Breathe, Relax, Stretch: Join Kay Boyce, Certified Yoga instructor, for this Gentle Yoga Class, with attention to correct alignment, breath work, and stretches. You will build strength, tone muscle and find new flexibility. This class is great for those new to yoga or who simply want to enhance their personal yoga practice. Bring your own yoga mat and a cotton blanket or large beach towel. Min. 6, Max 14 participants.

Continuing With Yang 24 Tai Chi
This class will be picking up where we left off with Yang 24 (for some of us, that means better than a year since we last gathered). We will review the form for several weeks, shaking off the rust together, and move on with the nuances of the form - flow, weight shifting, breathing. This class is sponsored by Age Well Vermont (donations to Age Well are appreciated but not required for participation). Registration is required either in person or online. Sun 73 (Long Form) Tai Chi
Learn a relaxing, join-safe activity shown to make an impact on your daily life. This program is proven to improve flexibility, reduce stiffness and keep joints mobile. It can improve concentration, memory, balance, strength, blood pressure and energy levels. Studies show that participation in tai chi can reduce recurrent falls by 70%.
Co-taught by a pair of patient, encouraging instructors, our goal for you is not only to learn this beautiful old form but to have fun and meet new people while you're at it. Adult Volleyball
Coed Pick up play. This is a recreational level program with an emphasis on fun!
Day/Time: Wednesdays; 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Fee: $30.00*
Advanced League: 3 on 3 matches with higher level play.
This night is more competitive and intense.
Minimum: 6 needed to run.
Day/Time: Sundays; 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Free Senior Walking Program
Stay active and healthy during the icy and cold winter months by walking in a safe and warm environment. Please bring a pair of clean, dry, soft-soled shoes with you and change before entering the gym.
No registration is required. Shelburne Residents only.
