​YANG 24 (Short Form) Tai Chi:
​Intermediate-Advanced
This class picks up where the autumn 2019 session left off. We will finish learning the choreography of the form then return to square one focusing on nuances: breath, refinement of individualmoves and flow. Intermediate-Advanced Yang 24 is a no-fee class sponsored by Age Well Vermont. Donations to Age Well are most welcome but not required for participation. Although this class is no-fee, registration with Parks & Recreation is required. Forms are available in the office or registration online is now available on the Parks & Recreation website. Knowledge of choreography through “High Pat on Horse” (or permission from instructor) is required.

Early Morning Boot Camp
​Enjoy this group workout that mixes cardio and strength training, using your own body weights as well as some small equipment. All fitness levels welcome! A fun, motivating way to get fit and kick start your day with instructor, Kristin Hartley!

​Free Senior Walking Program

​Stay active and healthy during the icy and cold winter months by walking in a safe and warm environment. Please bring a pair of clean, dry soft-soled shoes with you and change before entering the gym. No registration is required. Shelburne Residents only. Schedule is subject to change! ​Sun Style Tai Chi - Beginning Level 1

​Learn a fun and relaxing joint-safe activity shown to make an impact on your daily life! Tai Chi, the ancient Chinese practice of gentle flowing movements, can reduce stiffness, keep joints mobile, and improve flexibility and strength. Studies show it enhances concentration, memory, balance and helps bring an over-all sense of health and well-being. Tai Chi is appropriate for most everyone including those with mobility issues. Join this twice-a-week beginner's class with instructor Chris Curtis. Warning - Tai Chi can become habit forming and may change your life!

Shotokan Karate
​ For adults & kids ages 8 and up. Sign up the family!! Improve your fitness level, challenge yourself and have fun! Karate is a weaponless means of self-defense, consisting of dynamic offensive and defensive techniques, using all parts of the body to their maximum advantage. This program will help students develop physical skills such as eye hand coordination, mental focus, leadership and partnership skills while building self-confidence and character through basic Shotokan Karate Techniques. (Fee does not include required uniform.) Classes taught by Brandon and Robin Hier.

Shelburne Community Gardens
​Located at the LaPlatte Nature Center off LaPlatte Circle, the gardens offer tilled plots with water access. A limited number of plots are available for 2020 on a first come, first serve basis. Gardening agreement forms are available at the Recreation Office or call for more information. New gardeners may sign up beginning May 1st. Plots will be ready by Memorial Day weekend.

​Women's Empowerment Self Defense Workshops
Join The Safety Team for a self defense program for women and taught by women! The Safety Team is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the well-being, empowerment and safety of women. www.thesafetyteam.org; info@thesafetyteam.org.

Level I Workshop: Introductory This beginner workshop focuses on recognizing pre-assault behavior, learning ways to deter or avoid an attack before it becomes physical, understanding how predators think and what they look for in their victims, enhancing decision-making around lifestyle choices that minimize vulnerability yet maintain personal freedoms, and finding the inner-strength to fight back. Maximum 25 participants.

Level II Workshop: Intermediate This intermediate workshop takes Level 1 another step further, allowing for a brief review, practice of acquired strikes, and instruction of additional basic self-defense techniques that deal with a variety of situations and potential attacks. The focus is on “hands-on” self-defense skills, techniques and strategies. Level I is a prerequisite for Level 2 workshop. Maximum of 16 participants

Adult Pickleball Lessons
​ “The fastest growing sport in America”. Join IPTPA Certified Pickleball instructor, Lisa Hadley, for an introduction to this wonderful lifetime sport. Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis. The court is smaller than the tennis court so not as much ground to cover and easier on the body. Tuesday's will be for first time players or beginners and Thursdays will be for advanced beginner/ intermediate instruction. Bring a paddle, water, sunscreen and a snack.
​Come join Lisa to see what all the “craze” is about! Paddles are available through the instructor for rent ($20) or to purchase ($59). Please inquire at time of registration if needed. 8 people maximum 3 people minimum.
