Using a combination of local funds and a state historic preservation planning grant, the Town of Shelburne hired a consultant (Office of Robert White) to update the 1988 Shelburne Village Plan (Research & Evaluation Specialists of Vermont, Inc., and Alexander/ Truex/ de Groot, Inc., Architects and Planners). The Plan Update was completed in mid 2006.
As part of the update process, design professionals reviewed background materials, studied existing conditions, solicited public opinion regarding current issues and future goals, described candidate projects and measures, and prepared estimates of the costs associated with the completion of priority projects and measures. The results of the effort was an updated Village Plan document, including maps, diagrams, and cost estimates. Particular areas of emphasis include circulation, streetscape improvements, parking, lighting, and landscaping.
The audience for an updated Village Plan includes Town residents and property owners, visitors, and others. Copies of the plan can be downloaded using the link above.
