******************************************************************************** The goal of Shelburne Youth Lacrosse (SYL) is to provide an opportunity for all children to experience the sport of lacrosse. Accordingly, we encourage participation by beginning players and experienced players alike in all of the age groups. All players will be played as equally as possible without regard to skill. Additionally, SYL strives to teach the game of lacrosse, help players develop lacrosse skills, and teach teamwork and good sportsmanship. SYL is open to children in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Kindergarten (Coed) Program Registration Deadline: April 11 Cost: $40.00 This program will provide basic skills introduction to our youngest beginners in a safe, controlled environment. Players will enjoy a fun clinic from 8am-9am on Saturday mornings. This program starts April 5 and ends June 9th. Equipment: Stick is included in the price of registration! Mouth Guard is optional. Coed 1st-2nd Grade Program Registration Deadline: April 11 Cost: $40.00 This program is designed to give the basic skills to our youngest beginners in a safe, controlled environment. Players will practice on Thursday evenings from 5:30 - 6:30 PM and then will be split into teams for small sided games on Saturday morning. This program starts May 3 and ends June 9th. Equipment: All players will receive a stick as part of the registration fee. Mouth guard is optional. ************************************************************************************ Girls 3rd-4th Grade Programs Registration Deadline: March 16 Cost: $35.00 Girls 3/4 will practice on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30pm. Players will be split into teams to play each other for games on Saturday morning. This program starts May 2nd and ends June 9th. Equipment: Players must provide own stick and safety eye goggles. Mouth guard is recommended. Girls 5th-6th, 7th-8th Grade Programs Registration Deadline: March 16 Cost: $35.00 Girls 5/6 and 7/8 will practice two days per week in the evening for 1.5 - 2 hours. Pre-season practices will begin in early April when field time is available. Regular practices will begin after spring break, and they will play in Jamborees through the Northern Vermont Girls Lacrosse League on Sundays in May and early June. Equipment: Players must provide their own stick, eye cage, and mouth guard. ********************************************************************************* Boys 3rd-4th, 5th-6th, 7th-8th Grade Programs Registration Deadline: March 16 Cost: $35.00 (U.S. Lacrosse Registration required** ) Practice and Game Schedules: All teams will practice twice a week in the evening. Pre-season practices will begin in early April when field time is available. Regular practices will begin after spring break, and they will play in Jamborees on Saturdays beginning in May and ending in mid June. All levels will compete in Saturday Jamborees through the Northern Vermont Boys Lacrosse League. Equipment: At the Boys 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8 levels players will need to provide their own equipment, which includes: helmet, mouth guard, gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads ,cup and a stick. Players must wear a mouth guard at all practices and games. SYL will provide game jerseys. ** U.S. LACROSSE REQUIREMENTS- All players should register online at www.uslacrosse.org. It costs $25.00 for an annual membership, which is required for all Boys in 3rd - 8th grade competing in the Northern Vermont Youth Boy’s Lacrosse League. Players will need to provide their U.S. Lacrosse number and expiration date on their Registration form. Players will not be allowed to participate in jamboree games if they are not U.S. Lacrosse registered members. *************************************************************************************
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! SYL encourages parents to participate at all levels as volunteers. Positions where SYL could use help are: · head coaches at the Kindergarten and 1st-2nd grade level, and Girls 7th-8th grade level · assistant coaches · team parent (to help contact players and help coordinate the team) · game day assistance (serve as a timer, organize a snack, lining fields for jamborees) · referees.
