Summer has arrived and the library continues to be a very busy place.  We are thrilled to be able to offer so many important services to our community, such as free Internet use, wireless hookup, beautiful artwork and museum passes!  The passes provide free or reduced admission to many local museums and parks.  You can also get a cup of coffee to sip while you linger.   

 

We received our Gates Foundation Opportunity Online Grant.  This grant money, when matched with money donated by the Friends, was used to order 6 laptop computers.  These computers will be available to check out for in library use, creating a mobile computer lab!  Computer training classes will be offered in the near future.

 

The Friends are exploring various options for beautifying the entrance in the library and the area around it. 

 

Children’s Corner:

The book bags filled with books were distributed to students at Shelburne Community School, thanks to generous donations of both books and bags!

This summer’s library theme is Make a Splash! The Friends will support the summer reading program by offering children a “book for a book”.  Children will pick a free book from the bottom shelf of the chart after showing that they have read a book.  AJ and Cathy (Friends Board members) will offer a summer story time on Thursday mornings during the month of July. This summer will be fun filled!

 

Book Sale:

Donations continue to come in and the Friends are already planning for one of the biggest fall events in Shelburne!
