SHELBURNE COMMUNITY GARDENS
 
The Gardens are located at the LaPlatte Nature Center and offer tilled plots with water access.  Plots are 20’ X 30’ and 15’ X 20’.  A limited number of plots are available for 2008 on a first come, first serve basis.  Gardening agreement forms are available at the Recreation Office or call for more information.  New gardeners may sign up after April 1st.

INTRO TO GOLF AT KWINIASKA
 
A basic intro to the game of golf for beginning adults or long time players wishing to improve fundamentals.  Instruction on all aspects of the long and short game including full swing, chipping, putting, pitching, bunker play, and etiquette of the game.  Clubs will be provided for those who need them.  Max 8 people per class.

TABLE TENNIS
 
Ages 16—99 and all abilities are welcome to enjoy the informal instruction, organized play and matches.  Come join the fun!
 
Day / Time:  Wednesdays & Fridays, 7:00 - 10:00 PM

Cost:           $15 once/ week, $30 twice a week
 
 
 
CO-ED ADULT BEACH VOLLEYBALL
 
Free for Shelburne Residents with a beach pass. Coed, drop in play.  This is a recreational program with an emphasis on fun! Non-residents may purchase a $10.00 volleyball only guest pass.  No pre-registration necesary for residents.

ADULT DROP-IN TENNIS
 
This drop in program continued from the summer is designed to help Shelburne tennis players meet other participants in the area and set up some informal play. All ages and ability levels are welcome.  Please provide your own racquet and balls.  No registration or fee required, just show up!  For more info., contact Doris Jewell:

GREEN MOUNTAIN PASSPORT
FOR SENIORS 62 +
 
The Green Mountain Passport is a state sponsored
discount program for seniors and veterans with
disabilities.  For only $2.00, seniors can apply for the card at their local Town Clerk’s Office and receive FREE ADMISSION to all Vermont State Parks and state sponsored events.  You can also receive discounts at a variety of businesses.  For more information, call 985-5116 or visit the Shelburne Town Clerk’s Office. 
 
 
 
SHOTOKAN KARATE
 
Improve your fitness level, challenge yourself and have fun! Karate is a weaponless means of self-defense, consisting of dynamic offensive and defensive techniques, using all parts of the body to their maximum advantage. This program will help students develop physical skills such as eye hand coordination and additional self-confidence based on newly learned skills. With consistent attendance and a commitment to learn and practice, students will earn rank promotions as they develop their skills. For adults & teens. Pre-Registration Required.  Beginners welcome!

CVRA PROGRAMS
(Champlain Valley Recreation Assoc.)
 
Shelburne Recreation is a member of the CVRA, which consists of other municipal parks and recreation departments.  We are working together to efficiently utilize our resources and to provide a greater benefit to our communities.  New this year, CVRA is offering select member programs to other communities to bring you more opportunities.   You are welcome to register for the programs below, but must do so through the HOST recreation department.  The phone numbers is provided.  A website is planned to be up and running this spring with a variety of programs through different recreation departments.

WHITEWATER RAFTING TRIP
Your one-day whitewater adventure on the Kennebec River IN West Forks, Maine with Magic Falls Rafting Co. will include the following: Transportation, Professional Registered Maine Whitewater Guide, state of the art equipment, including self-bailing rafts, includes breakfast, wet suit, cookout of steak, chicken, fish, or vegetarian, rice, coleslaw, homemade desserts, rolls, and lemonade, slide and personalized video presentation of your adventure immediately following your trip, full use of all the facilities:  Pavilion with jukebox, television, DVD player, pool table, video games, outside basketball court, volleyball, horseshoes and hot tub. PARTICIPANTS MUST BRING THEIR OWN TENTS. Min. 11, Max. 22.
