Free Senior Walking Program
​Stay active and healthy during the icy and cold winter months by walking in a safe and warm environment. Please bring a pair of clean, dry soft-soled shoes with you and change before entering the gym. No registration is required. Shelburne Residents only. Schedule is subject to change.

Gentle Yoga: Breathe • Relax • Stretch
​Join Kay Boyce, Certified Yoga instructor, for this Gentle Yoga Class, with attention to correct alignment, breath work, and stretches. You will build strength, tone muscle and find new flexibility. This class is great for those new to yoga, or who simply want to enhance their personal yoga practice. Bring your own yoga mat and a cotton blanket or large beach towel.

Sun Tai Chi

SUN 73: Long Form Fall Prevention Tai Chi
​Novice level Sun 73 is for those of you who have met and fallen in love with Basic Fall Prevention Tai Chi based on Dr. Paul Lam’s Tai Chi for Arthritis program. Sun 73 is an extended version incorporating all the moves from Basic while adding many new, beautiful moves. As with Basic, the practice of Sun 73 enhances balance, flexibility, concentration and general well-being. Best of all, it’s fun, social and relaxing. Sponsored by AgeWell Vermont. Prerequisite for enrollment: completion of a Basic Fall Prevention Tai Chi class (or self-taught using Dr. Lam’s Tai Chi for Arthritis DVD’s - both levels). Please pre-register with Shelburne Parks & Recreation. This is a no-fee class. Donations to AgeWell are welcome but not required for participation.

SUN 73: Intermediate 
​Advanced level This class is a continuation of Sun 73 (Long Form) begun in September. We will add many new, challenging moves to those moves we learned in the fall session. Early Morning Boot Camp
​ As a group you will work with your neighbors, supporting and being supported to obtain your fitness goals. Each workout is a mix of cardio and strength training, using your own body weight as well as some small equipment. All levels of fitness are welcome! This is a fun, motivating way to get fit and a great way to kick start your day!

Shotokan Karate
​ For adults & kids ages 8 and up. Improve your fitness level, challenge yourself and have fun! Karate is a weaponless means of self-defense, consisting of dynamic offensive and defensive techniques, using all parts of the body to their maximum advantage. This program will help students develop physical skills such as eye hand coordination, mental focus, leadership and partnership skills while building self-confidence and character through basic Shotokan Karate Techniques. (Fee does not include required uniform.)

Women's Self Defense Program

Level I Workshop: Introductory
​ This beginner workshop focuses on recognizing pre-assault behavior, learning ways to deter or avoid an attack before it becomes physical, understanding how predators think and what they look for in their victims, enhancing decision-making around lifestyle choices that minimize vulnerability yet maintain personal freedoms, and finding the inner-strength to fight back.
Maximum 25 participants.

Level II Workshop: Intermediate
This intermediate workshop takes Level 1 another step further, allowing for a brief review, practice of acquired strikes, and instruction of additional basic self-defense techniques that deal with a variety of situations and potential attacks. The focus is on “hands-on” self-defense skills, techniques and strategies. Level I is a prerequisite for this workshop.
